A BILL to amend article sixteen-a, chapter seventeen of the code of
West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section
fifteen-a, relating to placing the employees of the parkways
authority under civil service.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That article sixteen-a, chapter seventeen of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
fifteen-a, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 16A. WEST VIRGINIA PARKWAYS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND
TOURISM AUTHORITY.
§17-16A-15a. Employees; civil service coverage.
Notwithstanding any other provision of this code to the
contrary, on the first day of July, two thousand one, all employees
of the parkways authority not exempted under section four, article
six, chapter twenty-nine of this code are covered by the policies
and procedures of the education and state employees grievance board
created under section five, article six-a, chapter twenty-nine of
this code and shall, within the limitations contained in section
two, article six, chapter twenty-nine of this code, be placed in
the civil service system as covered employees.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to place the employees of
the parkways authority in the civil service system as covered
employees.
